The Postmortem of MaroCharithra

Maro charithra..as the title suggests, had really created history when it was released in those days. Excellent songs, sensible story and brilliant performances…made it a landmark in love stories.

Ravi Yadav, A cinematographer too was in lot of craze for this movie and watched it over 30 times. Till then it’s fine, but some creepy thought came into his mind that he could recreate the love story again. He might have forgotten that the person who created Maro charithra is K.BalaChander who is Maestro in the art of cinema. His amateurish attempt almost killed the Masterpiece. So here is the postmortem of so called Murder. So I am calling this article a Postmortem rather than a review.

Story:
It is love at first sight for Balu(varun sandesh) and Swapna(Anitha). While they are in deep love, Balu’s Father (Pratap Pothan) and Swapna’s mother(Urvashi) indulge in deep quarrels. This results in an agreement that they should part away from each other for 1 year to prove to their parents that their love is not just for sex but is more sincere. Then there are few love triangles formed because of Balu’s boss Sandhya(ShraddaDas) and Swapna’s evil cousin Maddy.

What All went wrong??
The story has missed the connectivity with the audience from the beginning. The initial love story seems so artificial that each and every scene evokes laughter in negative way. It reaches peak level by the time central theme, the separation (of lovers) scene comes on to the screen. Thanks to the director for his lack of experience to handle such a novel theme.

And Second half still crumbles and tests your patience. There are some good emotional scenes in second half which had few sparks, but nothing could save the disaster, Because the hell lot of damage already happened and audience would have already started hating the lovers instead of sympathizing them by the time climax is reached.

Actors Performances:
Varun Sandesh is good as ABCD(American Born Confused Desi).Anitha though not great is sexy enough.Nice costumes given to the couple in the songs and in the movie made them look still better.
ShraddaDas who acted in forgettable roles in past has got a chance to prove her mettle as actress. She did her job well.
Naresh and Kota are ok.Adarsh as bad guy did well.

Any good things left!!
Yes there are...!! Music was still amazing. All songs are placed well and are good to hear. Generally audience takes a small break for songs, but it is reverse in case of this movie. Mickey J Meyer was excellent.
Ravi Yadav might have failed miserably as director, but he scored full with cinematography. He captured Niagara Falls, Newyork, Florida to the fullest. Great Visuals and Good Picturization of songs give you the half paisa vasool.
Dialogues are very nice .Especially Hero’s mother’s (she acted as mom to Pawan kalian in Kushi) witty dialogues brings some smiles.

Final verdict:
All in All, It’s a lesson that good movies should never be touched in the name of remake.Last year we had seen similar disasters in case of Billa and Pandurangadu. I hope this kind of madness stops here.
Moreover it is the feel that makes the love story a success. No richness and no attribute could save it.Now I could understand Why Gautham Menon was successful for ‘Ye Maaya Chesaave’
So if you wanna kill your time, I think you can watch old MaroCharithra Online rather than Killing yourself in the theatre.

Rating:
1.75 out of 5 and it can be broken into 3 parts one each for Music,Photography and honest performances.
