Maryada Ramanna Review

Maryada Ramanna is Sensational director SS Rajamoulis day out. He took a break from his regular adrenaline action flicks and had a tried a different genre this time with Comedian Sunil as hero. And As usual, the best of his team has supported him in this new venture…

Let’s check out whether he succeeded in his ‘hatke se’ attempt!!

Story (is actually revealed by director himself just before the release): The main plot is based on Rayalaseema, its hospitality and factions. Hero’s father and villain’s brother kill each other (in flashback). Villain is in the village and on the look-out for hero to return so that he could kill him. Hero is unaware about the flashback and whales away his time in town. One day, hero comes to village and stays in villain’s home. Villain initially doesn’t know that he is the same guy whom he was looking for. Villain is great at hospitality so, he decides that he would honor hero as long as he stays in his house and hunt him down as soon as he steps out. The rest of the story is about what happens when hero comes to know about it.

Actors:

Sunil firstly shaped his physique very well to suit this role and this role of Ramu which is just tailor made for his histrionics. He has done complete justice and neither underplayed nor over acted. Moreover he rocked with superb dance sequences. Audience will feel that there could be no better hero than him to play his role.

Saloni is in super ease playing the role of the Aparna. Very few in the tinsel town would get the second chance and this damsel is that one lucky lady who utilized it completely. She is the beauty combined with performance.

Brahmaji once again got an important role of saloni’s ‘baava’ .He played the crucial role very well.

Other Crucial role is RaviTeja’s voice over for Sunil’s bicycle. His voice spilled many smiles in theatre and is the energy booster in the second half.

Aparna’s father and two brothers played by Nageneedu (new comer) and Supreeth (Katraaju in chatrapathi) and other new comer did complete justice to the roles…

Story writer Kaanchi did a brief role. There is mixture of other rather little known faces who did their part well.

Rajamouli is the Master!!

No doubt he is the supremo in his art. We all know that his comfy level is elevating the heroism. His strength is the intensity he shows in the action sequences. But again Maryada Ramanna offers no scope to his style. But he this time tells this sweet tale more lovably.

He utilizes the Train episode to build the attraction between lead pair and easily moves the first half in joyous manner. All the situations in the second half are in such a way they evoke some violence but end up humorously. All in all, he proved his mettle once again and made his mastery unquestionable irrespective of genre he has chosen.

Songs and Background score:

Keeravani always seems to be in lighter vein while giving tunes to Rajamouli. But this time he competed with the director. Each and every song is a plus to the film.

‘Udyogam udipoyindi’ is peppy number shot with nice ideas (Like car crashes in back ground etc). ‘Ammai kitiki pakkana koorchundi’ is very situational and delight to watch. 'Raaye Raaye Raaye Saloni’ is something to watch for Sunil’s dance moves. While ‘Telugammai’ song is tale twister, this song comes at the right moment and drives the movie towards the climax. And the bit Songs he has given to the movie are very fetching and are bringing Keeravani enormous accolades.

Other Technical Departments:

Kaanchi provided the story which has sufficient ingredients to satisfy the family audience.

Ravinder’s Art direction should be appreciated especially for the House set which is seen all through the second half.

C Ram Prasad’s cinematography, Rama Rajamouli’s styling…and the Visual effects etc lifted the movie in a desired manner made this movie more a technician’s film.

Movie flow & Minor drawbacks:

The first half is made in so entertaining way with beautiful songs…Editing in this half is simply perfect that time just passes by taking us to the interval bang. Interval Bang or Pre Interval is not as attractive as Rajamouli’s films.

The initial 30 minutes in the second half is little bit stuck in the same house with no much happenings. If this screen time would have molded into some mind game or is filled with more of funny scenes…Movie would have even better.

Nevertheless Keeravani’s back ground score and then the Other 3 songs compensate for it and Climax is again engaging. Climax is simple and sweet one.

Final Verdict:

There is a saying ‘Karra viragaledu…kaani Paamu sachindi”...In a similar way…Rajamouli does not make any attempt to show violence but yet again he continues his success streak.

Rajamouli’s Patrons should never miss this movie. It’s overall a clean and technical effort from “Vedam” Producers shobu Yarlagadda garu.

It will have a decent run and its commercial outcome depends on big releases coming in few weeks.

Rating:

3.25/5.

INCEPTION

Have you ever dreamt of a dream that you had in the dream which again happened in a dream…Ahaa J sounds confusing right….But those who watched Inception can figure this out…

INCEPTION…The latest movie directed by Christopher Nolan who earlier directed critically acclaimed movies like ‘Momento, Dark Knight’ has changed our perception about the dreams…

Yes in the same way we had movies like Matrix and James Cameron’s visual wonder “Avatar” which are the greatest vision’s of those corresponding brilliant directors who could imagine beyond the future and that are presented in celluloid still more brilliantly that a common man can visualize them…Inception is Christopher’s vision about the dreams…It is purely fictional and of course a marvelous fiction.

Story (Not a Spoiler): Leonardo DiCaprio acted as Dom Cobb who possesses the elegant skill of reading the person’s sub consciousness while they are in sleep. So he snatches the visions/ideas in the dream. Now he is assigned a toughest job of implanting the new idea i.e. ‘“Inception” of thought ‘into a business tycoons mind. Cobb knows that they (Cobb’s Team) need to travel deeper into target’s sub consciousness i.e. dream in a dream in a dream (3-4 levels of dream). Cobb who flees from America to France as he is charged for his wife’s death accepts this extremely dodgy mission as the last chance to see his kids.

Christoper Nolan is terrific guide

In this exhilarating ride…where we travel through the dreams inside dreams, we were nowhere lost and the credit goes to the Christopher Nolan who guides us with utmost care in a well crafted manner.

Christopher starts the tour with example giving us the idea of the basic plot. Then he throws our Hero into the actual “Inception” Plan. He from there puts us in central character’s shoes and makes us travel through the entire operation. In the course, he keeps your mind engaged each moment. But if you snooze for a while, you have to revisit the game.

The best part is the emotion that is a inter-weaved thread in this visual buffet.

Characters/Actors:

The Director uses all the characters very brilliantly …Not even a single either goes unnoticed or we do feel they are wasted. Cobb’s team comprises a set of skillful people who could help him in this toughest task.

Leonardo Dicaprio played the central character Cobb so brilliantly and one should figure it out whether it is his best or one of the best. He looks damn perfect in the character he played.

Joseph Gorden-Levit acts terrifically as the right hand to the Cobb.

Ellen Page who acted as the dream Architect is lovable. This 23 year old girl is simply brilliant and is very supportive to the Cobb in the flick

Tom Hardy acted as another skillful team mate who could fake an identity in the dream world.

Ken wantabe, a Japanese actor acted as the employer of this team is the one who actually picks Cobb for this project.

Cillian Morphy acted as the Target (Rival business tycoon), while Marion Cotillad acted as Cobb’s wife

Visual feast…

Visuals… (CGI) play prominent role in the movie…We know that our dreams have sky as a limit and we dream of anything even beyond our vision. And Christopher had actually took the dreams a step forward and made us see them while we are awake.

The Earth can fold over itself…A train can burst into the streets…Infinite stairs…Streets constructed in never ending fashion…Skyscrapers loose the gravity, the everything we dream and only dream, comes true…

That’s the symphony of all crafts...cinematography …sound design and whatever technicalities involved in them...Full credit goes to those people behind the screen.

One Last word…

I used to come across a word “Edge of the seat thriller” and was wondering what it is, till yesterday when I sat at the edge of the seat by the time climax is done…Yes this is the movie …A complete one…which I could never imagine in my wildest dream…

Friends who never watched… don’t miss it…And I am sure people who watched it are gonna watch it again because our perception do change after watching this Inception again and again…

Hats off Christopher...May be it's time I need to revisit your old movies...:)

6 Super Songs of the Season

Listening to lovely music lessens your day-to-day stress. And our ears always yearn for fresh and good music from time to time…

So here’s something very special for your iPods’ …Check out 6 nice tunes I am listening to these days….

Album: Yamudu

నా హృదయం యెరుగదు ఇదివరకు... ప్రియ సరిగమలే...

నా మనసుకు తెలియదు ఇదివరకు... కసి గుసగుసలే...

(naa hRdayam yerugadu idivaraku.. ee priya sarigamalE...

naa manasuku teliyadu idivaraku.. ee kasi gusagusalE...)

Let me start with lovely Song from Devi Sri Prasad. This energetic number is sung by Suchitra and Sagar. Suchitra’s voice offers freshness…Yamudu has “Gahazini” Surya and our own “ Bommali” Anushka in lead!!Yamudu is remake of Tamil blockbuster “Singam”

Album : Subapradham

(mounamE chebutoondi...nee mounamE chebutoondi...E maaTa nee maaTuna daagundo!

choopu chebutoondi..nee choopu chebutoondi...yada chaaTununna aaSa EmandO!!)

This wonderful melody is from the movie Subapradam directed by Kalatapasvi Viswanath garu. Songs have special place in his movies…whether it be for his sensible picturisation or lyrical content or mellifluous tunes . This time Manisharma got the opportunity to score the music. This song is sung by SP Balasubramanyam and Pranavi. All the songs in the movie are lyrically rich. I remember a song “Mounamelanoi..ee marapu raani reyi…” while writing about this number.

Album : Em Pillo ..Em Pillado

(Andam geesina bommalaa..nuvvE naa naluvaipulaa..ninnE choostoo nEnilaa ayipoyaano bommalaa!!....

pagalu rEyi nee roopE naaa kanupaapalaa..jagamE marichi kadilaa nE nee neeDalaa!!)

Then comes the Romantic number with medium pace…scored by Manisharma. Lyrics by RamaJogayya Sastri are simple but superb…And so is the voice of the singer Deepu. Deepu sang hits like ‘naa kosam nuv juttu peekkuntey’ from Magadheera ,’love u raa..love u raa’ from Chirutha etc. This song definitely catches you in first listen

Album : Kothimuka

నువ్వొక పువ్వుల మాసం...అడిగా నీ సావాసం..!

నువ్వొక నీలాకాశం..దిగి రావా నా కోసం...!!

(nuvvoka puvvula maasam...aDigaa nee saavaasam..!

nuvvoka neelaakaaSam..digi raavaa naa kOsam...!!)

This is a nice song from same above combination of Music director Manisharma and lyricist Ramajogayya Sastri… “Kothimuka” has our chubby “Vinayukudu” aka Krishnudu in lead. Song is sung by Sree Ramachandra and Malavika…

Album : Maryada Ramanna

(raayE raayE raayE raayE raayE raayE salOni ..jaamu raatirEla sandu choosi jampujilaani..

tellavaarinaaka choosi pilla lEdani ..GallumanToo ooruvaaDa uDiki uDiki chaavani)

SS Rajamouli who has created history with Magadheera is coming with rather lighter vein movie “MaryadaRamanna” with Comedy actor Sunil as hero!! No gift for guesses…music is by MM Keeravani Sir. Raghu Kunche who sang mass number ‘Endukey Ravanamma..Pellendukey Ravanamma’ last year has sung this song. Geeta Madhuri who is known for mass songs (She sang Bangaru kodi petta) joined Raghu for this song. The heroine in this movie is Saloni so are the starting lines of the song…J

Album : Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu

నాలో పరుగులు తీసే మనసే..నీకై వెతికెను తెలుసునా...

నాకే తెలియక విరిసే వయసే ..నీతో చెలిమిని కోరెనా!!

(naalO parugulu teesE manasE..neekai vetikenu telusunaa...

naakE teliyaka virisE vayasE ..neetO chelimini kOrenaa!!)

Let me finish 6 with a melodious song from Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu. Music is by Selva Ganesh. He is Tamil music director debuting in Telugu with this flick. Song is sung by Chinmayi sriprada highly talented singer Karthik. Their voices are the asset to this song… A very nice song to keep you relaxed…

So these are 6 beautiful melodies from 6 different movies ….I am very sure that these songs will be liked by you. So why are you late…Start enjoying the music…

If Possible pass on your comments …as how you liked these numbers or you may suggest me some other songs!!

Hollywood:Spring is done...!!

Spring is done and summer is in. Toys in Toystory3 are truly enjoying the summer vacation with overwhelming response all over…

Here’s a light on the other spring/pre-summer flicks that I liked…Do check it out and you might like watching them either in theater or at home…

Karate Kid: The remake of 1984 classic cheered up the kids once again.

Its story of young kid Dre (Jaden Smith) who along with his mom leaves Detroit and reaches Beijing, their hometown for livelihood. Dre quickly tussles with local group of thugs who happen to be Kung fu masters. Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) comes to his rescue and he reluctantly agrees to teach Kung Fu to Dre.

Though this kind of Story is being made many a times on-screen with various sports in background, Karate Kid is received warmly all over the world yet again. Freshness seen in the locations of china, Enjoyable Stunt sequences, Believable characters and glacial pace of the movie are the factors that contributed to the movie’s success.

Jade smith, son of Will smith and Jackie Chan delivered honest performances. Kids will have a lesson or two from the movie and it’s a decent watch altogether.

Knight and Day:

Tom Cruise plays super Spy Roy Miller in this latest flick. He drags in the ordinary woman June (Cameron Diaz) into his plot of rescuing a young scientist and his invention.

This movie is filled with intentionally made funny action sequences which seemed to be extremely stupid. But it is Tom cruise who is super comfortable of what he is doing made us feel that all the wildest stunts on the screen look cool and enjoyable. Moreover his chemistry with Diaz was great and I really enjoyed the flick. Go for it if you never mind watching mindless movie…just for Tom cruise and exotic locations…

Shrek Forever After:

Shrek had his fourth and final outing this summer. He had a grand farewell thanks to the consistency in the series in delivering the decent content combined with required fun throughout.

In this Last Part, Shrek feels bored with his mundane life feeding his crying kids and being a family man. He feels that he lost his freedom completely. Shrek in distress accepts a deal from wicked Rumpel. The deal is he gives a day out of his life and he would get his happiness…And you know what Rumpel snatches Shrek’s birthday. So Shrek is lost now and everything he has done in last 3 parts is undone. Check out how Shrek breaks this deal?

So if you like Shrek series, His Final chapter won’t disappoint you…!!

I was disappointed watching Iron Man2, Alice in wonderland ...and partially liked Prince of persia...

That’s Hollywood for you, friends…Will be back with summer action updates….

Jummandi Naadam Review

Jummandi Naadam...Directed by K Raghavendra Rao garu and A MMKeeravani Musical released this weekend. Manoj and new comer Taapsi played the lead roles and Laksmi Manchu produced this venture

Here’s a brief about the movie to help you decide whether to watch it or not!!

Story: it’s just a one line story .BalaSubramanyam (Manoj) who loves music right from the childhood dreams of achieving fame in the field of music. But at one point gets struck in love for Sraavya (Tapsee). Sraavya’s uncle (Mohan Babu) now gives him a choice whether to opt for love towards music or his lady love…!!

Full of Color”Full” Songs:

It is Obvious that if the movie is from KRR-Keeravani combination, the general audience firstly look for songs…the proof are the magical melodies that were created in 90’s till Annamayya and SreeRamadaasu are still ringing in our ears.

SarigamaPadanee saptaswara sangeetha sudha…Song picturised on Manoj and Mohanbabu goes in the lines of “Naa Paata Panchamrutam” from Allari mogudu.

Lalee Paadutunadi ee gaali….Is beautiful melody shot in back waters of Kerala.

Sannayi Mogindi Pelli Panditlo is a nice marriage song

And there are other casual duets like “Yem Sakkagunnav Ro naa sotta buggalodaa” “Nigraham…””Baala mani BaalaMani””Entha Entha...choodanu”

And Last song “Deshamantey matam kaadoi...gatam kaadoi” written by chandrabose stands out among all the songs…It was nice Social awareness song rightly placed in the climax

All the Songs obviously are fantastically shot Thanks to the wonderful cinematography of S Gopal reddy .He could capture beautiful locales of Kerala and araku and fulfill the directors vision to the fullest. KRR proved that he is still the master when coming to songs. And Keeravani is always loyal to his favorite director

Now the bad bad things about the movie…

Well that’s about the Songs…I discussed about the songs first because seriously there is nothing great in the movie other than the songs.

Story is very much predictable and of course no one who visited the theaters would have expected even this better, so no complaints.

KRR’s eye for beauty is admired many a times but in recent times the lust that is predominating his vision is making the result spoil-sport. If the director would have at least concentrated 1/10 the time he focused on the Tapsee’s thighs, which would have enhanced the movie’s screenplay.

And there are few humorous punches overall, otherwise at no point one would admire the happenings on screen. Not even a single sentiment scene clicks.

Actors:

Manoj played his role with full of energy. But the role he did in Bindaas is far better.

Taapsi is inconsistent. She looks beautiful in few costumes …but disappoints in most. More over her chubby appearance might not compete with slim beauties ruling the Tollywood…Did someone ask me about the “Performance”…Come on friends...Are you kidding!!!

Mohanbabu acted very well in prominent role. His presence is the saving grace.

Comedians like Brahmanandam, Ali, MS Narayana provided little relief.Suman, Ahuthi Prasad Tanikella bharani are all wasted!!

Final Verdict:

KRR is stuck somewhere in past and he better make another historical musical like annamayya. In that case he need not all time match the tastes of current generation. There is more to blame in the movie, but giving due respect to the director…This would be enough.

Well all said…If you like me still love KRR-Keeravani’s melodies, you can have a look. Also there are few hilarious scenes between Mohanbabu and Manoj.

Otherwise no second good reason for watching the flick…just skip it…!!

Rating:

2/5 – Major chunk of the rating is only for songs and S Gopal reddy’s Camera work…
