Teenmar Movie Review

Summer is always special for Pawan Kalyan fans…He made them “Kushi” in one summer...He did “Jalsa” with his fans in the other…and now he is back to play “TeenMaar” this summer. Pawan Kalyan’s latest flick “TeenMaar” remade from “Love Aaj Kal” is directed by Jayanth C paranji. Trisha and Krithi Karbanda plays the female leads…

Plot:
Michael Velayudam (Pawan) is happy going chap who enjoys the life to the fullest. He believes in instant love and just lives the moment. He is unable to realize the true love of his life.Arjun Palwai (pawan) who lived 30 years back in the past is the man of ideals. He is the man of heart…He believes strongly his will to marry the girl he liked and fights for her.

“TeenMaar” talks about the variation in the love stories of these two completely different personalities who lived in different generations…

Performances…
The biggest specialty of TeenMaar is it celebrates Pawans first movie in double role. I guess that should be greatest gift to his fans to see Pawan in not one but two different roles. TeenMaar is Pawan’s show all the way.
Pawan is more comfortable as Michael. His ease and very good comedy timing in lover boy roles is once again revisited. He takes us a decade back. He also shed his inhibitions while locking his lips with that of Trisha and made the audience whistle. But dances should have been better.
Pawan as Arjun is simply superb. The Long Kurtas suited him very well…and especially one will love him in “Vayyarala Jaabilli” song very much. But again had it been little massier, it would have enticed fans very much.

Trisha steps into Deepika padukone’s shoes so effortlessly. She looks cute. She acted well in few emotional scenes. Her chemistry with Pawan is cool. Let me tell you, she looks stunning in the bridal attire.
Krithi Karbanda who debuted in “Boni” earlier suits the role of Vasumati. Her face is ever fresh and homely. Hair style should have been consistent. Donna who played blonde girl is good too.
Paresh Rawal played the important role. He narrates the Arjun Palwai’s story. Sonu sood as Trisha’s fiancé…Mukesh Rishi as father of Krithi have minute roles.
Ali did cameo for a while...Other guy who did short films like “Tokkalo Love story” etc is seen as sidekick of Pawan in flashback.

Movie Flow…
Movie starts with Michael’s playboy acts. Michael (Pawan) and Meera (Trisha) fall in love and even part very quickly. It becomes interesting with the introduction of Arjun’s Palwai character. The beautiful song “Vayyarala jaabilli” satisfies the appetite. Thus flow jumbles more in between two love stories. The shift is smooth and convincing and makes the first half decent enough. What is that seriously missing is Trivikram’s pun.

There are few hiccups in second half. Michael and Meera are in utter confusion whether they are in love or not. Thus they irritate the audience for a while as we don’t really get what they really want. At the same time, very less time is spent in establishing the Arjun Palwai’s story. So audience won’t connect to it much. Song on Shiva "Sri Ganga" is shot very well. Again Climax picks up very good. The scene where the Michael realizes his love and thus returns back is done very well. The tempo that is carried in last 30 minutes is absolutely fine and that makes up for the initial hiccups in second half.

Good Things...
Comeback of Pawan…And universal appearance of Pawan in entire film and his superb performance. All the heroines looked good and apt. Songs are all placed at right spots. Manisharma’s music and back ground score are decent. Production values while re-creating the locations in Kasi in yester year and while picturizing the songs are excellent.  Few scenes “Pawan wishing Trisha on her wedding” “Fighting scene near the Train in Flashback”, “Pre-climax scene where Pawan realizes his love” deserves applause.

What’s Disappointing…
Having Trivikram in credits and not having enough witty dialogues or hilarious moments is a big disappointment. Movie surely confuses the audiences, who have not seen LAK during the initial reels of second half. Those scenes between Trisha and sonu sood are utterly spoiled. And no proper justice is done in etching Arjun Palwai/old character. Thus that part excels only in the two songs in the flashback. None of the other characters in the movie are established well

Comparison with Original Love Aaj Kal
Comparisons with the original, naturally arises when it is a remake. In that way, Jayanth who successfully remade Sankardada MBBS does reasonably good job here too. He does not deviate much for current love story. And he brings up little different and appealing pre-climax. But few scenes like the confusion in characters may not gel well with Telugu audience. Rishi Kapoor’s role is beautifully used for time travel in original, but Paresh Rawal’s roles ends up mere story teller here.

Final Say…
Is it not great to see Pawan speak Italian? …donning two roles…romancing three girls!!! TeenMaar is definitely a big treat for Pawan’s fans this summer. But still there is space for more homework to make it work natively well. In movie there is a dialogue where elder Pawan says to Mukesh Rishi pointing his son “Veedini mottam manchodigaa anna maarchu..lekunte complete ga cheda dobbu…ilaa madhyalo atu itu kaakunda cheyyoddu”…In a same way TeenMaar movie too falls in between superb and mediocre movie.

Rating
Seriously tricky part :) 3.25 +0.25/5 The rating for a decent approach and inherent message of love and of course Rocking Pawan! Definitely worth a watch. Summer time and Pawan's movie...sure a hit.
