Robo Review

Superstar Rajnikanth and the Supreme director Shanker has shown us the taste of success with Sivaji…and Now they are back with a bang…Robo, the movie is much talked about for its whopping budget and for depicting next-gen robot as the lead and not the least for having our Gorgeous Ex Miss World Aishwarya Rai!!

Let’s check out the how Robo went on!!

Plot: Vasikaran (Rajni) creates an Extra ordinary Robo (named as Chitti) with speed of 1Thz and memory of 1 Zetta bytes. All goes fine, until Robo turns into humanoid…and loves deeply Sana…the scientists beautiful girlfriend…

Things go out of control when an evil scientist manipulates the Robo…resulting in havoc and tons of troubles…

Rajni is everything:

Rajni the giant icon of South Indian cinema is the one who made the vision of his director come true. He donned 3 roles if you consider different shades of Robo as 2 individual roles. Director like the scientist is more partial to his creation Robo. While the role of scientist is made very ordinary, two different get ups of Robo are designed extremely well. Rajni grows on us as chitti in the first half. You will simply love his innocence and giggle for his funny deeds. And in contrast Rajni excelled as wicked Robo where he rebels against his own master for his love. Rajni is exceptionally great in this role…and proved himself a great villain as good as the hero.

Aishwarya Rai …a true synonym of beauty…is simply superb in all the costumes. She had a crucial role to play...And she has done it with élan. Her chemistry with Robo out beats her love with the scientist. She is the best choice for the movie and Shanker portrayed her more beautiful in songs…

Mesmerizing Visuals…!!

Sky is limit for the Robo…If Superstar as human could go beyond our imagination while beating up the goons…Don’t ever think of what a Rajni can perform as Robot.

He beats up goons chasing a running train...rescues people in fire and much more just in the first half. And in second half he multiplies himself in hundreds and forms gigantic forms…

The climax I can say is spellbound with Robo taking form of Transformer and Anaconda just to name few…It’s no doubt visually best ever climax . Here’s a salute to the technicians (VFX, Sound design, cinematography…) for making it believable within the budget constraints they had. Remember Hollywood flicks are made with 100 times better budgets!!

Shanker the great And Rahman scores good

Call him Indian James Cameroon …no offense for bringing up the next-gen story and made it a visual treat…especially the climax.

Songs are good…and are picturised elegantly. Back ground score is good enough. Locations are the assets for the songs.”Neutron electron” and "Kilimanjaro…" and Visual grandeur is seen in “Harima...Harima “and “Inumulo...”

Movie flows very smoothly in first half and you will love it for sure. Shanker did not waste much of screen time as in Sivaji and he has built up the love between the Robo and Aish in believable way. But he took so many cinematic liberties in second half. There were couple of dull moments…and unnecessary scenes…But Climax makes up for it…you feel satisfied…

Few things that would have been better…

Movies tempo falls flat in the later half for a while and everything seems louder from then…especially the car chase, mosquito episode…and pre Kilimanjaro song is dull…

While elevating the Robo, the other character of Rajni is diminished lot…He should have been least heroic!!

Though songs were nice…I still feel something missing that lacks the connection with audience…

Final Say

At the end of the day…Robo took its cinematic liberties and ended up well in good manner...

Best parts are first half and Climax. Kids will love it for sure…and the climax is the one that is the best in Indian screen so far…

Can anyone afford to miss RajniKanth, Aishwarya Rai and Shanker together.

Lessen your expectations and watch it as a good effort…I don’t say it is way good than Bharateeyudu…but it is on par with Sivaji

A terrific one to start with and this one truly stands up to the expectations. One might know the hulchul this song has created on the day it released initially by Sony, Thanks to brilliant composition by Manisharma and it has that peaks and soothing moments to endear us. You cannot stop praising Karunya for such marvelous vocals…and no doubt he’s gonna be in demand here on. Ramesh Vinayagan has sung initial phrases. Surprising are the top-notch lyrics by Ramajogayya Sastri, who generally provides trendy ones many a times. Liston to it and I bet you will love this one for the best of all who are behind this song.

Wow… second one is a best of melody. It’s been quite a long time from Mani Sir, we heard such a delighting melody. Beautifully rendered by Hemachandra and Swetha. And icing on the cake is the Midas touch of Sirivennela Seetarama Sastri garu. It’s tough to have an excellent Mahesh’s album without him. Song has a Rajasthani folk touch in between just because the movie premise is set up in those deserts. The glimpses of our Prince in the trailers of this song would steal our senses and of course we say we can’t wait anymore.

A trendy fast beat this time…Very good one…a different tune sung with ease by Ranjit and Shravana Bhargavi…thoroughly engaging, thank Ram Jogayya for chic lyrics just like the Jalsa’s “Jennifer Lopez”!! Check for lines like…”Raavanasuridi sontha sodari!,Brahma chesina mistake vaa!!…Volume control emaatram leni Mangeshkar melody ayyavaa…!!!

మకతిక మాయా మశ్చీంద్రా...మనసిక మస్తీ కిష్కిందా!! తళుకుల రంపం తాకిందా..తారరంపం చెలరెగిందా!!

Ranjit has sung this one with full of energy…Yet again the lyrics are good enough . “Prati malupuni gelichina guruthuga mailu raalla paina santakaalu cheynaa..””Vella madhyalonaa odigina steering..Globe mottamantha sontha maina feeling..!” vaah kya lyrics Ram Ji…you are brilliant

Let’s conclude with this fast duet…A regular but good enough. Continues your interest in same manner as the previous ones with similar style of lines…Hemachandra and Malavika sung this number.

All in all…One of the best albums this year…Ram Jogayya excelled in lyrics for the five songs he has given and Sirivennela shines in between. Its Manisharma’s magic over all the way…just raising the expectations to soar in the sky…

Wish the Prince quenches our thirst that suffices the 3 year long wait !!!

Saradaga Kasepu Review

No doubt Allari Naresh has set his pinch of style in a big way and fetching accolades just like Veteran Rajendra prasad. But a set of senior directors posed speed breakers to his otherwise smooth journey.

Check out how his latest flick “Saradaga Kaasepu” by Vamsi went on…

Plot: Srinivas (Srinivas Avasarala), A USA return goes to Hyderabad along with his driver RangaBabu (Allari Naresh) to see his bride Manimaala (Madhurima). Things go wrong and the identities are swapped….And rest is all as predicted…!!

Actors:

Allari Naresh has done his best…His comedy timing in dialogues is exceptional…But he should see to it that his entire product is rich enough to drag the audience to theatres….otherwise he might remain as DVD hero in the long run.

Madhurima is cute and good on-screen. And Vamsi’s heroine is always special and she fitted the bill. She just needs to get good ones in future.

Srinivas Avasarala of AstaChemma is just adequate and never looked as active as in his debut.

Among comedy batch…Ahuti Prasad scores big in role of strict man who imposes punishments for petty mistakes. MS Narayana and his PA Krishna bhaghwan’s thread reminds you of “Tantri-the Mantri” of Tinkle series where later tries to kill him but end up saving him.

Kaasepu Sarada…Kondantha Duradha…

First half goes smoothly with no much complaints….You start recollecting Vamsi’s Godavari in the first song…And the introduction of all the characters go quick and by the interval…you know all and happy.

Things become much as expected and comedy does not appeal to you anymore. Things get diverted and Vamsi’s “chaadastam” gets on to your heads and you start looking towards your watch rather watching the screen….

Reasons for Duradha…

Chakri’s songs seem very routine….Except for the first and last…Others don’t enthuse you. Director Vamsi himself sang few songs and his vocal’s are irritating at times especially when he render’s “Nijama” …”Avuna”. Toting up are cheap locations and the fun of watching the Vamsi brand songs is missing.

Don’t know why Heroine turns around with long hair as in shampoo Ad each time…and blinks her eyes so much just to show dark blue shade on her eye-lids.Spare Vamsi...for that is his age-old style

Introduction of a secondary love track…wastage of screen space, misplacing the songs tests your patience in long way.

Somethings of Sarada…

Dialogues are very witty at times and are sure to bring you some cheers…And Allari Naresh rendering the Simha Parody “Choodu oka vaipey choodu” etc are sure to make some merry…

Madhurima is one more reason to look at.

Comedy of errors is good for a while and all the good actors have done their best.

Final say….

Overall movie has a thin story line and at the end something to say ….though everything is predictable.

Only watch if you are really itchy for time pass and are contented with few laughs.

Better production values and a well directed second half would have helped Allari Naresh to score a hit.

After SundarakaanDa (Baapu) and Subapradham (K. Viswanath) and now Saradaga Kaasepu by Vamsi, I felt it’s a third time that senior directors and the Letter ‘S’ that did not allow Naresh to hit the Bulls eye.

Dabangg Review

Lucky you Salman for enjoying the best festival season of Bollywood solely. His new venture Dabangg meaning “Fearless” went on to become biggest grosser for a weekend crossing the “3 Idiots". Movie is directed by debut-ant Abhinav Kashyap and is Salman's home production.

Let’s take a quick look whether it is really worth it and would create history going further…

Chulbul kaa Kahaani :

Dabangg is story of Chulbul pandey aka (he fondly calls himself) Robinhood Pandey , a fearless police officer. He is not a typical Bollywood honest cop but has his own style of setting things right. He hates his step father(Vinod Khanna) and step brother(Arbaaz) just as much he loves his mother(Dimple Kapadia) . At the same time his heart skips beat when he sees Rajo(Sonakshi).

Loved the Trailer…But

Hmmm…frankly it was tempting trailers and tapping music that dragged me to the theatres. Salman beating bad guys and wooing his lady love…and he beats and then woos..And then beats and then…sorry am I repetitive…but that’s what you find on screen and finish half the movie by the way .

Yes things just don’t move for the god’s sake. We never feel convinced at all why Salman is so indifferent to his family to an extent that he marries his love in the arrangements made for his brother.

One might love the songs irrespective of Salman’s so-so dance moves but need to bear the loud fights with piercing bullets in frequent intervals. All the dull characters wake up with us in last half hour and then a predicted family drama leads to much lengthier fight.

Performances

Salman, the long lasting bachelor khan of Bollywood is the heart of this chick flick. His knocking punches …spontaneous dialogues made the audience and of course his fans cheer for a while. The role of Chulbul pandey is just tailor made for him. Nevertheless he is losing the charm he carried so far.

Sonakshi Sinha…daughter of Satrugna sinha had her dream debut with her favorite co-star. She has lovely screen appearance thanks to her “Mast Mast..Do nain”…no doubt they steal our hearts…But her character is dumber on screen.

Dimple Kapadia is very dearer. We just miss her in the midway. Vinod Khanna is good enough. No complaints on Arbaaz khan either.

Sonu Sood as cheddi Singh is perfect bad boy of the movie for he looked hunkier than the Salman himself…

Mahesh manjrekar as heroine’s father, Ompuri as other cop are passable.

Songs and Salman!!

Songs are at the top of all No doubt. “Tere Mast Mast..Do nain” “Sachi Sachi tere nazarein ek darpan” are nice to hear and are simply great on screen…

Then there is Malaika’s song “Munni badnaam hui..darling tere liye..” that wakes you up and shakes your foot.

Then we have some one-liners from Salman…in a fashion “araam jadey se yaad aagaya..aap key aadarneey pitaji kaisey hai” . His dance moves for the ring tones of the goons, his hatke se walking style and his not so great but ok-ok dance moves all contribute to the cheers we have.

Final say…

Though the movie enjoyed the best weekend ever…it is no way gonna carry the success so long.

Peppy songs and the stunning statistics might drive you to the theatres, prepare yourself for a typical Amitab’s 80’s entertainer…and a whole barrel of red color (bloodshed) along with tons of noisy encounters.

Puli Review

The wait is over and result is out…Sweet result would have a made the longing lovelier…But there are times a bitter outcome would drain your dreams. ‘Puli’ is one such movie that kept millions of people counting the days…and the final reaction is something beyond the imagination…

Here’s some chit chat on good and bad…What all went wrong and what was intended!!

Plot: ‘Puli’ is the movie about the sincere police for whom the duty is the prime and society his temple. Movie is all about his “Puli Team” a special team to keep an eye on police department and there by safeguard the interests of common man. In the process he has a tiff a business tycoon Alsalem (Manoj Bajpai).

Abba Chaa!!

Many might have had the hint when the trailers are out…but shocking thrills await us from the very beginning…when

Puli’s mother trains him to march “Left Right” when he is in her womb.

Sooner he grows, Puli starts climbing from Helicopter and then jumps on from one skyscraper to other. Not so later he pierces the bullets with the sword.

He is not just man of action as he frequently has war of words with the villain where each of their kidding argument occupies 20 minutes of screen time.

Then he is “chaaala chaaala!!” smart while he traces the goons just by their voice

But poor puli is outwitted by his lady love who plays a fresh drama each time, once to love him (she disguises as lady police)...next to marry him (she acts as she is in the death bed!!) and third again tests our patience just to sleep with him… (creates artificial thunders and rain!!!)

Scenes jump without continuity and songs creep in without a warning…Add additional graphics where in the whole screen has a ripple effects and sometimes the checker boxes.

Noble theme and Things that should have been Nice...

Beneath the odds are the ideal thoughts of Pawan Kalyan. Yes the first time I am taking the name of Power star in this article, because all that is good is only and only for his presence. He struggles hard to bring forth the significance of police. He stresses on the responsibility of a citizen to achieve happier future. He questions the corrupt politicians and shouts at media for making circus of human values.

Songs given by AR Rehman are no doubt superb in aural but are suppressed at least by a half visually. Production values are rich enough than they are required to be

Pawan the savior and Surya the spoiler …

No arguments for Pawan looked more innocent and honest…and is lot more fresh in this flick. His costumes designed by his better half Renu are cool throughout. He is slower enough while delivering the dialogues and wittier enough in many a scenes. But he should have not let many things happen.

SJ Surya who still boasts of Kushi sprinkled mud on Pawan's ideologies. Pick up a song...Pick up a scene that is not made a laughing riot. He made the Puli…beyond what Palanati Brahmanaidu is for Balayya and a Varudu for Allu Arjun. Lesser we speak, better it is and it should be the last ever Telugu movie he directs without doubt.

Had it been directed by likes of VVinayak result would have been different

Other Stars...

Nikisha patel is appealing and funny. But should get luckier in her next visit.

Saranya as Pawans mother got louder role after a calm one in Vedam. Nazer is the next best to Pawan.

Manoj bajpai is adequate and struggled hard...Charan Raj is fine...

Watch it in group!! If ever you need to

Pawan fans might capture the glimpse of their beloved. They might be able to grasp his noble intention that is suppressed by all the odds….

His anti fans would love this one as it is food for all the satires and online spoofs for a century to come…

Don’t be alone but watch in group if at all coz we loved doing it…with innumerous laughs and counter comments from audience

Or Just add Sept 10^th to the September 11^th in the history and forget that movie has been released.

Fresh Face(9) - Nikisha Patel

Fortune strikes us rarely and would there be any best for debutant to foray into tinsel town than acting opposite Power Star Pawan and at the same time dancing for the tunes of AR Rahman. Nikisha Patel is one such luckiest damsel who is making a dream debut with “Komaram Puli” directed by SJ Surya.

Well, Nikisha is UK based model born to Gujarati Mom and Kenyan Dad. She is crowned Miss Wales in 2006. She being very keen on acting in movies was there in Mumbai waiting to get a chance in Bollywood. But as luck would have she was selected in an audition conducted by SJ Surya.

This ardent fan of Madhuri Dixit is good at hip-hop dance and is also familiar with Kathak. She personally loves romantic films.

Like any other new comer she declares her role in Puli as vivacious and bubbly. Of course naturally she is in praise for her friendly co-star Pawan Kalyan. Let’s hope she makes it big and could fulfill her dream of acting in Bollywood cinema sooner. Here’s a Very good luck to lady Puli…

By the way, wait for Puli is over and is all set for September 10th release all over the world

We are family Review

Are you keen on having a look at the indianized version of ‘Step mom’, Produced by Karan Johar and directed by debutant Siddardh Malhotra. You might be, because the posters might drag you to the theatres because they have old wine Kajol along with tempting vodka Kareena…

Plot: It’s a story of a man, two ladies, three children and lots of tears….

Family members:

Arjun Rampal He looked apt for the role and has done justice as a husband who is tangled between his ex-wife who is about to leave this world, his new caring girlfriend and his three loving kids

It’s cake walk for Kajol to play a mother who is suffering with cervical cancer and who is reluctant to leave this world. She is natural and best suited the role.

Bebo (Kareena) is the surprise. She is no more zero size so she looks gorgeous and cute in all the outfits. You might think twice when asked who among Kajol and Kareena scored more in acting …Yes you guessed right as you might incline to Kareena, because she is more appealing as she got meatier role obviously for she is the step mom.

All the three kids were great and their performance is superb.

Melodrama…Err…’Hell’ O’ Drama

Needless to say how the movie turns out to be if we have a cancer patient in the movie. Tons of moments to bring out tears and the characters act smartly to hide their pain and try to laugh and sing and dance at disco. And you know the sorrow is tripled because we have 3 kids and all the proceedings happen thrice. Add to it, we had two ladies behaving like cat and mice.

I love the role of the doctor, because she is one who puts this drama to an end periodically by conveying the health status of Kajol and thus bringing forth the movie to an end.

Ok…Goodies now.

Nevertheless there were tender moments especially the scenes with the kids. It was touching to find them in such a situation and later how they cope up with their new mom. Teenage girl’s character is developed pretty well and the director is able to capture her tantrums perfectly.

If Kajol is stuck in the pain, It’s Kareena who made some merry and made the kids happy along with the audience.

Bit surprising to know that Shanker, Ehsaan and Loy gave the music, may be because the music flows in sync with the script. The supposed to be Rocking Disco number is the only one that is heard out because it is so bad and loud. Other tracks neither haunt you nor distract you.

Final Say:

I found no specific exciting thing about this family except some fine chemistry between Kareena and Kajol.

Catch it if you gel well with daily soaps

Gaayam 2 Review

Ram Gopal Varma’s Gaayam released in 1993 is not yet healed and we still have some flashes of it somewhere glittering deep inside us…And now we have Gaayam2 after 17 years directed by his protégé Praveen Sri. Here’s a sneak peek into the sequel and see whether it stands beside the classic.

Just the Theme: Gaayam2 is about the reflections when the gangster Durga decides to stay away from the Mafia World. And it’s all about the consequences that dragged him back and thereby the result.

Actors:

It is Gaayam that laid a strong foundation for Jagapathi Babu as a versatile actor. His journey from there on has seen much more heights and the comfort level thus achieved is clearly seen in the latest version. It is delight to watch the glimpses of Old Gaayam in between and it just makes us to love the character more.But his age seems not to be hidden any more.

Vimala Raman has lots of movies in her kitty but she got the right one to register herself among the audience. She is right blend of sex appeal and subtle performance.

Kota Srinivasa Rao is no doubt a negativity personified. He is a gifted genius. His Performance gets stronger by the day as the Old wine. He infused that satire, that fun and that pace into the movie.

Tanikella Bharani has got complete role and he is awesome.

Kota Prasad is excellent and would have been true heir to his father. But destiny has some other thing for him. It was touching to see the duo on the screen and it is so sad that he is no more. May his soul rest in peace.

It is good to see many actors continuing especially Revathi, Sivakrishna etc though we miss hot urmila

Movie Flow/Direction:

While the original aims at the social responsibility, Gaayam2 pin points the selfish political leaders who create havoc in the society. And the movie truly depicts the current political scenario and there by the proceedings grabs our attention much easily.

The First half is completely done in Bangkok. Much of screen time is taken for some tender moments with the hero’s family and then how he is traced back to his past. By the time we would say “enough of it” we are brought right back to our Hyderabad and Second half is Racy enough to captivate our interest. Climax is very nice.

One should have guts to touch the Gaayam as the comparisons naturally flow out for every detail. Of course Praveen did not match up to his master Varma but nevertheless Praveen made an honest attempt. Especially the screenplay is smooth and relating the movie to the original is cool. Praveen has chosen the right slot and he has big way to go. I liked the scene in which Tanikella Bharani is killed

Dialogues…Music and the Rest

The movie flow is consistent with songs placed at right moment. Music by Maestro Ilayaraja is not on par with his yesteryear glory but is adequate to the moment on screen. Back ground music is great and makes up for it. Dialogues are superb. Nice on- liners given to Kota are like straight forward bullets that hits all walks of society. Camera work and Art are fine. Lyrics for the song “Raama rajyam anna maata otti perena” are commendable. I guess one song abusing politicians is removed in censor.

Drawbacks:

Much of Violence might distract few audiences and might keep away some family crowds with kids around.

Second half is definitely seems heavier and first half is slower.

Final Say:

This movie by the looks is clearly not the one for pleasant entertainment seekers. But it is sure watchable for the performances, relevance of current affairs.

If not all…It is a sweet tribute to the classic Gaayam.

More the comparisons with the prequel ...more the movie falls flat. I guess old gaayam still appeals to us.
