Robo Music: Rahman Rocks again

RajniKanth, Rahman and Robo and of course the shankaR …The sound of R strikes us in these names and so is the Result that is obviously Rocking. You can add aishwaRya Rai to the list and now it is more Resonating Right…

J…Here go some sweet things of Robo’s music…

మరమనిషి...మా లోకి రా... (O maramanishi...maa lOki raa)

It’s a very warm welcoming song to the man’s super cool invention ‘Robo’. The theme goes like “Man feels proud of his creation…He say’s how it is superior to the man…and at the same time wishes that it follow the right path”. Very nice lyrics by Suddala Ashok Teja. SP Balasubramanyam garu filled life into this starting number. He is there behind our every hero and now supported next gen robot too. Khatija Rahman, daughter of AR Rahman sings few lines melodiously…

ఇనుములో హృదయం మొలిచెనే ...ముద్దిమంటూ నిన్నే వలచెనే... (inumulO O hRdayam molichenE ...muddimanToo ninnE valachenE...)

Ashes turn into life when our Aish passes their way…So is there a wonder If our robot falls for this gorgeous girl!! So Robo dances to this rocking tune of Rahman. The maestro ARR himself lends his voice to the Iron man. Suzanne gives him company. Lyrics again by Suddala Ashok are very cool this time…phrases like “Memory lo nee sukumuram vidiga daachukuntaaley...shut down cheyyanu po” are good. English bits are given by Kash n’ Krissy…

నీలో వలపు...అనువులే యెన్నని...న్యూట్రొన్...ఎలెక్టృన్...నీ కన్నుల్లొనా మొత్తం యెన్నని... (neelO valapu...anuvulE yennani...nyooTron...elekTRn...nee kannullonaa mottam yennani...)

For those who love melody…this one quenches their thirst to the fullest… Flows smoothly in Rahman’s style of melodies…but yet very fresh… So this song will be on the Scientist and you know Scientists are so involved on their work and if they need to praise their partner, the are supposed to use the vocabulary they have that is composed of neutrons and electrons…Nice lyrics by Vanamali. Vijay Prakash and Shreya Goshal no doubt carried the sweetness of this melody.

హరిమా...హరిమా...నేనో సింహపు కొదమ...నువ్వు జింకై వస్తే గుమ్మ వదలనులేమ్మా... (harimaaa...harimaa...nEnO siMhapu kodama...nuvvu jinkai vastE gumma vadalanulEmmaa...)

The grandeur is seen in each and every frame in shanker’s cinema and 'compromise' seems to be out of his dictionary when it comes to songs. This Song just by sound depicts that lavishness. It goes in the style ‘Dheera Dheera…’ song of Bharateeyudu…No Doubt it’s a different one for Hariharan, Sadhana Sargam provides female voice. Lyrics again by Vanamali. Definitely a one to look forward on screen.

కిలిమంజారో..భలా భలి మంజారో..కధా కళి మంజారో..యారో..

మొహెంజొదారో..నువ్వే ఎహెం జాదారో..రావె షెహెంజాదారో..

(kilimanjaarO..bhalaa bhali manjaarO..kadhaa kaLi manjaarO..yaarO..

mohenjodaarO..nuvvE ehem jaadaarO..raave shehemjaadaarO..)

Now it’s the turn of a melody in a folk style…Remember our history we studied about the ancient civilizations Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro..Yeah cool blend of lyrics written by Bhuvanchandra with lots of funny wordings…Javed Ali voice does the magic this time and adding the spice to the song is chinmayi’s hatke se voice…to remind you, she dubbed Samantha for Ye Maaya chesaave…

బూం బూం..రోబో రా...జూం జూం రోబో రా...( boom boom..rObO raa...joom joom rObO raa...)

Time to shake your legs on the dance floor with the Robo for this title song…be careful you might tap on the accelerator now and then while you are driving and listening to this number… Yogi, Kirthi, swetha, and Tanvi lend their voices to this fast pace number…Lyrics again by Bhuvanchandra..

I think Robo is named Chitti in the movie…and there is rocking music version of the title song…

Some words like “Yantruda” “Auto Auto vaada.. Automatic vaada” needs some time to digest…but Telugu do not have simple term for a machine man …So Yantram became Yantruda..:)

That was a simply amazing album isn’t it. If Shankar visualizes something beyond the next generation and Rahman is always there to breathe life to that vision with his miraculous music. So we cannot expect Robo to be a Roja again…because the Master is taking us to different heights and we are happy to follow this legend…

Lafangey Parindey Review

Lafangey Parindey brought together a new pair of Neil Nithin Mukesh and Deepika Padukone. It’s a movie about the positive spirit in life. Movie is directed by Pradeep Sarkar who shot to fame with his debut Parineeta and is produced by Yash Raj Films…

Plot: It’s a story of Pinky (Deepika), a girl next door who dreams to win a reality show. But as the fate would have, she loses her eye-sight in an accident. Nandu comes to her rescue and nurtures her shattered dreams.

Parindey…

Deepika is very cute in the movie. She had tried something which she never did before and she is natural as the girl next door. Though she did not give her full justice to the blind girl role, she is passable. Who knows a better performance could have fetched her, an award!!

Neil is lovable in this one. Though he was dominated by his co-star, he made his presence felt. But he should be more pro-active in many scenes…seems there’s lot of scope yet where he need to garnish himself. But nevertheless he was good enough for the role.

Among others…Namit dass who acted as chaddi, hero’s friend acted very well. Other friends are good too. Kay Kay menon did brief appearance.

Cool Plus points…

Music by R.Anandh is fresh and captures your attention in first listen. Picturization of the songs is natural and enhanced the music. Even the background score is effective…

“Man Lafangey”, “Nain Parindey”, “Lafangey Parindey” and “Dhatad Tatad” are all catchy.

Hilarious one liners got great applause from the crowd…

Camera work is good, but again there are very limited locations.

Ok now drawbacks…

Hmmm…may be 90% of our bollywood flicks are predictable …So anyways no point in complaining about the same. The plot is so simple and there is no struggle or some challenging situations that come across the lead pair.

No extra effort is thrown on Reality shows and the performances are just shown in a glance. A more of competitive scenario would bring a gripping climax

Tidbits

People from south can relate this flick to super hit film done by simran in lead in Tamil and Telugu, where Vijay and Nagarjuna were her co-stars respectively in two versions.

Final Say…

Though the movie do not stand either besides Pradeep Sarkar's debut Parineeta…It’s better than Yash Raj productions recent products…

Fresh chemistry of Deepika-Neil, scintillating music, very good dialogues , short duration, straight forward narration…All in all kept together make it a decent watch.

Summer 2010: Animation Vs Action

Hi Friends…here I am to share with you about two nice movies released this summer..!!Well one of them belongs to Action genre and the other an Animation.

SALT an Angelina Jolie starrer comes as high octane action thriller. Apart from just being another action film, the movie keeps you engaged in guessing “Who is Salt?”

Plot and Pros: Evelyn Salt works for CIA. But one fine day, she is accused of being Russian Sleeper agent sent to USA to cause destruction. Now she’s on her shoes to prove the acquisition wrong. In the process she seems to complete her mission assigned by her Russian team. Was she really the deep cover agent of Russia? How she could prove the point if she is not? Forms the crux of the flick and of course makes the movie a real nice puzzle.

Watch it just for Jolie: Angelina fights against all the odds that come in her way, bashes the numerous hurdles and does whatever that seems impossible for even a man…Right from initial 15 minutes, movie picks up the pace and the tempo is carried till the climax. And no wonder if you stood up at the end to clap for Jolie because it she and she alone made this best action movie of this summer in spite of its own plot holes…

In fact this script is prepared for Tom cruise, but has to be filmed on Jolie. Hats off Angelina…you are the Wo’man’!!

Despicable Me

Animation flicks are no more looked down and especially the summer 2010 truly belongs to them. With continuous streak of hits like ‘How to train your Dragon’, Toy Story, Shrek and now Despicable Me…seems that animations would give the other genres a run for their money in future!!

Plot and Pros: This is a story of Gru, a super villain whose hobby is to steal the greatest monuments in the world. Now he is on the biggest mission of stealing the Moon. His task is not as simpler because on one hand he has to control his army of minions-tiny yellow pill shaped creatures and on other he also has to outwit his rival villain Vector. His troubles just double when three little orphan girls come into his life…

Giggles and giggles all the way: Here is the assurance that you are gonna tickle your funny bones throughout the duration…Thanks to the nasty things done by our little yellow army. And The Gru’s bond with the young girls grows touches us by the end…

So don’t miss despeble..Sorry despicle…Errrr…”Despicable Me” …Yes the name is tongue twister, but believe me movie is joyous roller coaster!

That’s it for now…and these two flicks are in Top 10 from past 5 weeks and are still playing in theatres…

Peepli [Live] Review

Happy Independence Day friends…And also I am here for sharing something about a movie that truly depicts our rural India after 63 years of freedom. Yes it is “Peepli Live” from the production house of Man with Midas touch…Mister Perfect Aamir Khan.

Theme: Peepli Live is a story of two farmer brothers in a small village in Peepli consistency. Naththa, the younger of them steps forward to commit suicide so that his family could collect the money given as compensation for a farmer’s suicide and thus protect his land. In the process, media plays unnecessary active role and added to it are nasty politics that makes things more of fun.

People of Peepli…

Omkar Das Manikpuri, a prominent theatre artist made his debut with the lead role Naththa. His innocent expressions, natural ways of acting filled the life into the character.

Raghubir Yadav who is well known for his role in Lagaan, played elder brother of Naththa. Raghubir is multi-faceted artiste who is also a musician and set designer.

Shalini Vatsa who played Naththa’s wife is also an acclaimed theatre artiste. She too is simply spontaneous.

Then we had Nawazuddin as local reporter, Malaika Shenoy and Vishal Sharma as rival reporters and Sitaram Panchal as local leader, Faruk Zaffer as old lady in the film are among others who have done their roles extremely well.

All iz well for Aamir Khan and Anusha Rizvi…

Who better than a journalist turned director Anusha Rizvi could handle a movie that deals with a social cause and a sarcastic effort against media and politicians. She blended the agony of peasants and fun generated while media is craving for making their presence felt and thus passed the bitter message in appealing fashion. She should be appreciated for a noble intention and bravely sticking to the point.

It was ‘Lagaan’ then and ‘Taare Zameen Par’ yesterday and now the Peepli where each of Aamir’s productions has chosen a path less travelled. Needless to say that is the obvious reason for his graph to zoom in such way for playing different roles and producing the path breaking films.

What to watch for…

Peepli Live showcases the poverty prevailing in our country in very much lighter way. Be it be the pain taken by the brothers or death of a farmer who sells the mud for his livelihood or it be a complaining wife who struggles to run the family or it be the entire state of a present village or opportunistic politicians…Everything touches our heart and raises innumerable questions about our progress in past 60 years.

On the other hand, Look out for sarcasm on media that is truly shameful and is no doubt highly irritating many. Of course this kind of criticism on media and politics is not new for Indian cinema, but it reaches the heights when coverage is made on Naththa’s shit and that scene might be the biggest slap for present journalism which really makes lot of noise out of a shit.

Funny one liners, Good music, Smooth camera work all supported the movie in good manner.

Final word…

Nevertheless it does not match the Aamir Khan’s previous production ventures in providing the entertainment. Also it neither even tries to reach Sharukh’s Swadesh in driving the point.

But Peepli Live is a cute small film in its own style… and definitely watchable for its honest approach.

Do try to watch if at all you have leisure.

Don Seenu Review

Energetic star Raviteja has donned the role of aspiring Don in his latest outing DonSeenu…This is his second outing this year…And DonSeenu is second of many sorts like he acting for second time with Shriya after Bhagiratha…And Its his second with the Producers of ‘Kick’. Except the director “GopiChand Malineni” who made his debut with this flick.

Not the Story….just the theme: Don Seenu is about an AmitabBachan Fan and a Don Aspirer Seenu …who makes his surname as “Don”. How he plays and wins a fun game with existing two rival dons and their respective sisters is the entire movie about…

RaviTeja’s show….

If there is someone who made us sit for 2 hours in the theatre…It is no doubt Raviteja…He is now the master blaster of his genre…He imitating Amitab and remembering “Don” scenes is pretty nice. Though this movie is no different from his other movies...It does not disappoint the audience who expect the same from this “Mass Raja”…Scenes where he plays dumb remarks his ease …

His Co-stars…

Shriya had a great come back with this movie…She looks stunning in the movie. Thanks to the costume designer…for such a show.

There is other girl Anjana Sukani…She is just ok...fitted her role well

Srihari would not even need to rehearse for his role…because he played the same in countless movies…But he still spills laughs with Telangana dialect. Shiyaji shindey is also at ease and I think he is more comfortable in Telugu now.

Ali as sidekick of hero is good. Brahmanandam had brief but entertaining part. The response for his entrance is as usual over whelming.

Not a fresh treatment from a fresh Director…

GopiChand who worked as apprentice of Srinu Vaitla had borrowed his style to nice extent in second half. But he is good at screenplay with no confusion. His comedy timing is smart enough and could make the audience engaged throughout. He would have been more safer if at all he would not have stammered at the climax. So more innovate the director is…sooner he gets registered with audience, But GopiChand scores just pass marks.

Movie flow and other Departments…

First Half moves smoothly in picturesque locales of Germany. It is nice camerawork from Sameer Reddy to entice us with Shriya and scenic beauty at the same time. Second half moves in time tested “Read’Dhee” style. And a little twist that leads to again a very much boring climax like the 10 minute fight and a family photo at the end…Luckily no police this time .

Manisharma had not given a single soothing tune for our Don…but he is ok with background core…Title song sung by Baba Seghal is a better one…

So Drawbacks as said earlier are music and slower and time tested second half/climax.

Final Verdict…

Raviteja fans and Shriya admirers …would definitely love this movie…

Movie has good production values and some Paisa vasool stuff...

It is definitely “One-Time-Pass” movie for all looking for killing the time without getting caught.

Rating…

3.25/5
